Cuba imported some 307,000 tons of chicken from the United States in 2021. Journalist Amaury Valdivia analyzes how the money from that purchase could be used in pork production.
Bearing in mind the cost of photovoltaic systems and transport costs to Cuba, rental homes and other private businesses seem to be the ones that are being called on to take advantage of this new opportunity. At least in the beginning. However, the mass use of photovoltaic technology in Cuba is also in the State’s best interests.
The Cuban government undertook its Tarea Ordenamiento to solve age-old problems within the national economy, as well as increase citizens’ purchasing power, revalue the Cuban peso as the official currency by eliminating the Convertible peso and establishing a single exchange rate for Cuban pesos against foreign currencies. Months later, none of these objectives have been met.

Going back on the US state sponsors of terrorism list means that Cuba is unable to receive financial aid from the US or financial institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Restrictions on signing up for international collaboration programs and businesses somehow related to the US.

Some weeks after private micro, small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) were formally authorized in Cuba, implementation is still in the project phase.
In terms of the Cuban government’s dual currency – partially “triad”, right now -, it has taken on the role of the loser.
Potatoes are the highest priority crop grown in Cuba.
Statistics considered the sustained abandonment of planting areas and the insufficient growth of agriculture, but these data do not appear to be specific to modify the state policy that should modify food in Cuba.
Although in a recent article published in the state press the self-employed are blamed for the rise in prices and the shortage of beers in Cuba, the causes must be sought in other matters such as the lack of production.
